EU-JPIA Defends PPL Cup


            The Enverga University – Junior Philippine Institute of the Philippines local chapter joined the 4th Peter P. Laurel (PPL) Cup sponsored by Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants – LPU Chapter at Lyceum of the Philippines University – Batangas, 10:00 in the morning on December 5.

            The PPL Cup has three levels: Level 1 for Basic Accounting and Partnership and Corporation, Level 2 for Practical Accounting 1 and Level 3 for All Board Exam Subjects.

            The program started with the orientation of the participants about the quiz mechanics and room assignments for the elimination round. The elimination round started at 11:20 am and ended at 12:00 noon. The said elimination is a written exam composed of 25 questions. Only 10 participants per level will continue to the final round.

            The final round contestants were announced in the afternoon program which started at 1:30 pm. It began with the invocation, followed by the national anthem and LPU hymn. The opening remark was given by their adviser, Mr. Rey Fernan Refozar. Afterwards, the LPU chapter president, Mr. Guiller Magsumbol, welcomed the participants and explained the mechanics for the final round, and the determining points for the over-all champion. Each participant that made it to the final round earns his school 1 point for the cup. The first place for each level earns 5 points, second place earns 3 points, and third place earns 2 points. The school with the highest points will be the holder of the cup for this year.

            For the Level 1 final round, William Bacsa, Krishna Amar and Angelo Ruz made it to the top 10. Krishna Amar won second place. For Level 3, Julius Macaraig, Rossel Merca and Liezl Cabutihan joined the final round. Liezl Cabutihan won third place, and Julius Macaraig won second place.

            The overall champion was declared to be De La Salle University – Lipa.

            This event served as another experience for the JPIAns in the academic aspect of being students.
