Panahon Ko 'To with a Lot of Twists
EU-JPIA’s “Panahon Ko ‘To” is a Jologs/General Information Type quiz bee held
on December 19, 2012 at RBA Hall. The
questions were gathered from BS Accountancy students from 1st year
to 4th year. The contest aims to develop camaraderie among EU-JPIAns through trivial questions about themselves.
The
program started at 11:00 AM with the invocation, singing of the Philippine
National Anthem and Maroon and White.
There were 8 groups consisting of one 1st year, one 2nd
year, one 3rd year and one 4th year BSA students per
group. They contested for three rounds
namely: “Pademure” Round with 1 correct answer equivalent to 1 point, “Dakilang
Chismosa” Round for 3 points and “Kris Aquino” Round for 5 points.
After
three rounds, Group 1 got the 1st place with 85 points, Group 6 got the 2nd place with 83 points and Group 4 got the 3rd
place with 78 points.
The
program ended at 2:00 PM.

EU-JPIA Holds Tribute to October 2012 Board Exam Passers

This
year, the Enverga University – Junior Philippine Institute of the Philippines
local chapter holds tribute for the 23 CPAs who passed the October 2012 Board
Exam at the Rodolfo B. Abadilla Hall, CET building, 10:00 in the morning on
December 8.
The
program started with the invocation, followed by the national anthem and the
university hymn. The opening remark was given by the College Dean, Dean Paz
Bobadilla. This was followed by the speeches of the new CPAs, who shared their
experiences as students, as reviewees for the board exam and as examinees of
the actual board exam. The CPAs who attended the said event were Gennilyn Rose
Asis, Janine Fatima Beltran, Jiezl De Luna, Janet Del Mundo, Shery Anne Paderon,
Harris Egliane, Kaye Anne Escudero, Gene Emil De La Cruz, C’zar Jerick Sanchez,
Joe Bernard Fernando, Russel Lyne Kaye Balid, Caicy Vidal, Magene Robles, Oliver
Wendell Paderez, Rico Rafael Cabalonga, Lyka Camille Capistrano, Zyrell
Vernadelle Galit, Ma. Carselyn Gendrano, Joanne-Marie Jaen, Brynda Angelica
Jalac, and Rojohn Valenzuela. The other two CPAs who weren’t able to attend
were Analiza De Torres and Sherwin Merca. This batch of CPA passers holds the
highest percentage of school’s passing rate at 67.65%.
In
between every five speeches, there was a raffle sponsored by the Dean, and the twistmas
games for the JPIAns which includes card relay and paper trade.
The
JPIAns and the new CPAs also shared their lunch at 12:30 pm.
This
activity serves as an inspiring event for the current JPIAns to continue their
dreams of becoming a CPA, to pursue success despite the hardships and
challenges, and to believe in oneself that he can do it.

EU-JPIAns on the 2nd SHL Cup
Thirteen
students of the Bachelor of Science and Accountancy joined the annual quiz bowl
entitled Sotero H. Laurel Cup held at the Lyceum of the Philippines-Laguna,
Calamba City, Laguna last December 9, 2012. Being the first cup holder of the
said competition, these students aimed to defend the title and have this the
second time around.
The
program started at exactly 7:30 in the morning where registration of the
participants and nonparticipants took place. After an hour, the program proper
began. One student coming from the host school led the prayer then the singing
of the National Anthem on the record. The dean of the College of Business and
Accountancy-LPUL welcomed their guests. Next was the returning of the cup being
done by the students of MSEUF. After this, the elimination round began. The
quiz bowl was composed of three levels: Level 1 – Basic and Partnership and
Corporations Accounting(2nd Year Students), Level 2 – Theory of
Accounts and Practical Accounting 1(3rd Year Students), and Level 3 –
Auditing Problems and Theory(4th Year Students). In the end, Ronz
Mikko del Moro advanced in the Level 1 and Jayson MontaƱez in the Level 2.
After
the lunch break, the final round for Level 1 started, then the Level 2 after an
hour. Finally, MSEUF placed 3rd in the Level 2 of the competition.
Unfortunately,
MSEUF didn't defend the cup, but the students are strongly determined to regain
this prestige on the competition.

EU-JPIA Defends PPL Cup
The
Enverga University – Junior Philippine Institute of the Philippines local
chapter joined the 4th Peter P. Laurel (PPL) Cup sponsored by Junior
Philippine Institute of Accountants – LPU Chapter at Lyceum of the Philippines University
– Batangas, 10:00 in the morning on December 5.
The
PPL Cup has three levels: Level 1 for Basic Accounting and Partnership and
Corporation, Level 2 for Practical Accounting 1 and Level 3 for All Board Exam
Subjects.
The
program started with the orientation of the participants about the quiz
mechanics and room assignments for the elimination round. The elimination round
started at 11:20 am and ended at 12:00 noon. The said elimination is a written
exam composed of 25 questions. Only 10 participants per level will continue to
the final round.
The
final round contestants were announced in the afternoon program which started
at 1:30 pm. It began with the invocation, followed by the national anthem and LPU
hymn. The opening remark was given by their adviser, Mr. Rey Fernan Refozar.
Afterwards, the LPU chapter president, Mr. Guiller Magsumbol, welcomed the
participants and explained the mechanics for the final round, and the
determining points for the over-all champion. Each participant that made it to
the final round earns his school 1 point for the cup. The first place for each
level earns 5 points, second place earns 3 points, and third place earns 2
points. The school with the highest points will be the holder of the cup for
this year.
For
the Level 1 final round, William Bacsa, Krishna Amar and Angelo Ruz made it to
the top 10. Krishna Amar won second place. For Level 3, Julius Macaraig, Rossel
Merca and Liezl Cabutihan joined the final round. Liezl Cabutihan won third place,
and Julius Macaraig won second place.
The
overall champion was declared to be De La Salle University – Lipa.
