EU-JPIA on the 30th ANC




This year, Enverga University JPIA participated in the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants’ 30th year celebration of its Annual National Convention, with the theme “Championing JPIAns through Leadership with Integrity and Fellowship towards Excellence.” The said event was held on April 29 to May 1 at Sarrosa International Hotel, Cebu City. The participants in this convention were members from different JPIA local chapters, advisers, deans, and representatives from the country’s top auditing firms and private companies.

             On the first day of this convention, every local chapter registered their participants for various events and contests. After the registration proper, all delegates were requested for lunch while watching CineJPIA Entries 1, 2 and 3. Afterwards, the president of NFJPIA, Mr. Brimer Limare, opened the ceremony. Many activities were held simultaneously like the Amazing Race, Interview for the next NFJPIA officers, and Interview for the Year End Awards. Talks from two of the country’s well-known accounting firms, Navarro Amper & Co. and Isla Lipana & Co., and another from Unilever were presented before dinner.  After dinner, the Meeting De Avance followed.               The second day’s activities were NFJPIA Cup Quizzes and non-academic events composed of essay and haiku writing, poster making and photography contests. All quiz bees were composed of CPA board subjects i.e. Theory of Account, Practical Accounting 1, Practical Accounting 2, MAS, Auditing Theory, Auditing Problem, Business Law and Taxation. All delegates of our local chapter participated in their respective quiz bees. Interviews for the Most Outstanding JPIAn, Most Outstanding Local Chapter, and Most Outstanding Local Chapter President were also continued simultaneously. SGV & Co. was also given the chance to give a simple talk before lunch. During the night, while all delegates were in summer attire, the Bingo Extravaganza was conducted alternatively with the event called 30 Seconds to Fame.               On the convention’s third and last day, the awarding ceremony started after breakfast. Our local chapter won different awards namely: Best Local Chapter Activity of the Year (Leadership) for the 2nd Annual Rodolfo Alvarez Awards; Best Local Chapter Activity of the Year (Community Service) for the Accounting Lecture Series; Most Outstanding Local Chapter 2013; Outstanding Local Chapter President, Jejomar Monterey; Photography Contest Champion, Marlon Joseph Serrano, and; One of the Influential People of JPIA, Dean Paz L. Bobadilla.

Tribute to Graduating JPIAns


                It is the tradition of the EU-JPIA to give tribute to its graduating members.  And this year, the EU-JPIA once again continue to acknowledge the success, happiness and sacrifices of the seniors for the last four years.  The theme of this year’s tribute is beach or summer.


                The program started at about 10 o’clock in the morning with the invocation, singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the University Hymn.  Then it was followed by the opening remarks from the EU-JPIA Executive Vice-President, Mr. Mykel Evan Josef T. De Silva.  After that, games prepared by the juniors and sophomores which were played by the graduating JPIAns.  The highlights of the games are the “Pitik Bote” game because of its very challenging mechanics which will make you feel dizzy.  Another one is the games adapted from the TV Game show, “Minute-to-Win-it”.



                After the games, a lunch for the seniors was prepared.  After then, the second part was started. The seniors will deliver their speeches about their experiences for their entire college life as well as their four years as BS Accountancy students.




                The activity ends with the closing remarks from the President of the EU-JPIA, Mr. Jejomar A. Monterey.  Mr. Dareen Satoya hosted the event.

Soft Skills At Focus: Wine & Dining Etiquette for Business





    Last March 1, 2013, the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants with the help and assistance of the students and faculty from the College of Tourism and Hotel and Restaurant Management conducted a practical seminar with the theme “Soft Skills at Focus: Dining and Wine Etiquette for Business”.  The seminar aimed to help the JPIAns to have the skills and learning on dining and wine etiquette which they may find useful  in the corporate world.

The registration started from 9:30 to 10:30 o’clock in the morning.  At 11:00 AM, the program started in the Coffee Shop of the CTHRM with the invocation, singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the University Hymn.  After that, the Dean of the CTHRM, Dean Juvy Tamondong, gave her welcome remarks.  Next, the EU-JPIA EVP and also the activity chairperson, Mr. Mykel Evan Josef De Silva, delivered his opening remarks.  Then, Mr. Raemeus Evangelista, JVP for Finance, made the introduction to the speaker, Ms. Marisse Aranas, a professor from the CTHRM. 



Professor Aranas then started her talk.  Everyone has their attention to the speaker which is very lively and interesting.  Prof. Aranas elaborated and discussed the different procedures, utensils used and, of course, the etiquette and proper way on how to eat in a formal setting.  Right after her talk, the food was served and the speaker was looking and guiding the participants if they have learned from what she has discussed to them earlier.


After that, the certificate and a token of appreciation were awarded  Then, Ms. Carol P. Raca, SVP for Finance, delivered her closing remarks.  Before leaving, the participants have their picture taken with the speakers.

32 participants enjoyed the seminar.  Ms. Sarah Jane Banal, JVP for Non-academics hosted the event.

EU-JPIA Initiates T.E.A.




The Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants – Enverga University Chapter commences the first TEA Awards (The EU-JPIAns Awards), held simultaneously with the RAA Awards at the RBA Hall, CET building on February 23 which started at 7:30 in the evening.

The purpose of the TEA Awards is to recognize the Accountancy students of CBA-MSEUF. The categories are: Crush ng JPIAn 2013 – Male, Crush ng JPIAn 2013 – Female, Fashion Icon of the Year, Public Figure of the Year, Bookworm of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Hairstyle of the Year, Clown of the Year, Smile of the Year, Most Active JPIAn of the Year, Most Stressed JPIAn of the Year, Love Team of the Year, Performance of the Year, Achievement of the Year, Comeback of the Year, VP of the Year, Committee of the Year, Most Admired Professor of the Year, Most Friendly Professor of the Year, and Most Favorite Professor of the Year. Special awards were: Prince of the Night, Princess of the Night, Emperor of the Night, and Empress of the Night.



Nominees were chosen by almost all Accountancy students by filling up a nominee-sheet. Top nominees are then voted online through the EU-JPIA’s blog, The Griffin.

EU-JPIA’s Sportsfest and Palaro ng Lahi 2013


      It has been in the tradition of Enverga University –Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants to conduct sportsfest. Thus, this February 9, Saturday, from 8:00 a. m. until 6:30 p. m., JPIANs gathered in the covered court, MSEUF, Site, Lucena City to enjoy the said event. February 9 is a perfect day to hold the EU-JPIA sportsfest, since exam week and Foundation week has just ended.


      The event consists of different sports like: basketball, volleyball, badminton singles, badminton mixed doubles, table tennis singles, table tennis mixed doubles, chess and Sudoku. But, it doesn’t just end there, since; this year is a year for JPIA’s innovative era, where activities are carried on with twists, Palaro ng Lahi was also conducted during the sportsfest, having Filipino child games like: piko, jackstone, Chinese garter, and patintero.


      The day began with an opening prayer followed by the singing of the National Anthem and recitation of the Oath of Sportmanship. Games started simultaneously. JPIANs from all levels supported the event. Even first year accountancy students who happened to have their NSTP on the same day, still tried to attend the event just right after their class.


      Games were already done around six in the afternoon. Afterwards, awarding of medals and trophies to winners was administered by Ms. Janine Del Mundo, Senior Vice President for Non-Academics of JPIA. The list of winners for the EU-JPIA Sportsfest and Palaro ng Lahi 2013 is as follows:

Panahon Ko 'To with a Lot of Twists


                EU-JPIA’s “Panahon Ko ‘To” is a Jologs/General Information Type quiz bee held on December 19, 2012 at RBA Hall.  The questions were gathered from BS Accountancy students from 1st year to 4th year. The contest aims to develop camaraderie among EU-JPIAns through trivial questions about themselves.

                The program started at 11:00 AM with the invocation, singing of the Philippine National Anthem and Maroon and White.  There were 8 groups consisting of one 1st year, one 2nd year, one 3rd year and one 4th year BSA students per group.  They contested for three rounds namely: “Pademure” Round with 1 correct answer equivalent to 1 point, “Dakilang Chismosa” Round for 3 points and “Kris Aquino” Round for 5 points.

                After three rounds, Group 1 got the 1st place with 85 points, Group 6 got the 2nd place with 83 points and Group 4 got the 3rd place with 78 points.

                The program ended at 2:00 PM.

NFJPIA - R4 Midyear Convention






The National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants – Region 4 Council held its annual Mid-Year Convention at Batis Aramin Resort and Hotel on September 29-30, 2012.

The event started with a program. Opening remarks was given by the Regional Council President, Ms. Ma. Jeanie Kaye Elma. The said event consists of Academic Events and Non-Academic Events. Over a hundred of participants came from different schools in the region.

The Academic Events include quiz bees for The SGV Cup (All Board Subjects), Meet the Standards (International Financial Reporting Standards), CAT Cup Level 1 (Practical Accounting), CAT Cup Level 2 (Management Advisory Services), CAT Cup Level 3 (Payroll and Taxation), and the Golden Abacus Challenge (General Information). All quiz bees has two parts, the written exam for the Elimination which lasts 45 minutes, and the Final Round for the top ten for each quiz.



All eliminations and the final rounds for CAT Series and Golden Abacus were held on the first day. The final rounds for the MTS and SGV Cup were held on the morning of the second day.
 
For the Non-academic Activities, team-building activities were held, as well as the Mr. and Ms. NFJPIA-R4 pageant. The TBA started on the first day around mid-day, it was a race with eight stations. On the evening, there was the so-called “TRASHion show”. Each of the eight groups presents their group-made dresses during the pageant, on the interval. The pageant started with the production number together with the Kultura, Bayle, at Awit dancers. Four lovely ladies and five gorgeous young men participated in the said pageant. The pageant consists of Theme Wear (Scorpio), Talent portion, Casual wear, Corporate wear, Resort wear, and Evening Gown. The said activity lasted until 2am the next day.


 

For the second day, after the final rounds of the quiz bees, the participants gathered in the gym for another activity, the Jologs quiz. The TBA groups were the participants in the said event. The closing program ended at around 2:30pm. Some participants went to the “Kamay ni Hesus” afterwards. This activity has been successful through the efforts of the Regional Council Officers.
