EU-JPIA hosts the 3rd Accounting Triwizard Tournament

The Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants – Enverga University chapter continued its magical event, the 3rd Online Accounting Triwizard Tournament, held at the AEC Little Theatre and RBA Hall, on January 26 starting at 10 o’clock in the morning.
The registration of participants was conducted from 9:00 to 10:00 am. Afterwards, the opening program was held at the AEC Little Theatre. It started with a doxology, followed by the national anthem and the university hymn. Next is the welcoming remark from the president of EU-JPIA, Mr. Jejomar Monterey, who is also the event’s over-all chairperson. After this, the history of ATT (Accounting Triwizard Tournament) was presented. The dean of College of Business and Accountancy, Dean Paz Bobadilla also gave her message for the participants. An intermission number was also presented, followed by the reading of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR).

After the program, the participants moved on to the RBA Hall for the elimination round which started at 11:45am. The elimination is a written exam, consisting 30 questions per category and to last for 45 minutes. The exam ended at 12:30. The participants were told to return at the AEC Little Theatre at 1:30 pm for the announcement of finalists and the conduct of ATT’s final round.
The Triwizard Tournament has three categories for the elimination round: Search for Wizards of Theory Subjects – the Madame Nelda Reyes Challenge, Search for the Wizards of Hybrid Subjects – the Atty. Leandro Garcia Challenge, and Search for Wizards of Problem Subjects – the Atty. Antonio Acyatan Challenge. The Theory Subjects include Theory of Accounts, Auditing Theory, and Business Law. The Hybrid Subjects include Management Advisory Services and Taxation. The Problem Subjects include Practical Accounting 1, Practical Accounting 2, and Auditing Problems. The top 4 participants for each category shall advance to the final round, the Wizards’ Duel.

With its revised IRR the event has been improved, showing creativity and innovation. More stuff has been incorporated to the event, such as wizard categories, potions, defensive and offensive spells. A total of forty questions were asked in the final round of ATT, coming from any of the seven subjects given in the CPA Board Examination. Each question is classified as easy, average, or difficult. Easy questions answered correctly earn a participant 50 wizard points, average questions give 100 WP, and difficult questions provide 200 WP. Each question answered incorrectly will result to negative WP, half of the WP assigned for that question. The potions and spells were paired with some of the questions in the final round. Whoever gets the correct answer for those magical questions were awarded with either a potion, or a spell which they can use in the conduct of the final round.

The Wizards’ Duel ended at 4:30 pm. The lists of winners are as follows:
