Soft Skills At Focus: Wine & Dining Etiquette for Business

Last March 1, 2013, the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants with the help and assistance of the students and faculty from the College of Tourism and Hotel and Restaurant Management conducted a practical seminar with the theme “Soft Skills at Focus: Dining and Wine Etiquette for Business”.  The seminar aimed to help the JPIAns to have the skills and learning on dining and wine etiquette which they may find useful  in the corporate world.

The registration started from 9:30 to 10:30 o’clock in the morning.  At 11:00 AM, the program started in the Coffee Shop of the CTHRM with the invocation, singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the University Hymn.  After that, the Dean of the CTHRM, Dean Juvy Tamondong, gave her welcome remarks.  Next, the EU-JPIA EVP and also the activity chairperson, Mr. Mykel Evan Josef De Silva, delivered his opening remarks.  Then, Mr. Raemeus Evangelista, JVP for Finance, made the introduction to the speaker, Ms. Marisse Aranas, a professor from the CTHRM.

Professor Aranas then started her talk.  Everyone has their attention to the speaker which is very lively and interesting.  Prof. Aranas elaborated and discussed the different procedures, utensils used and, of course, the etiquette and proper way on how to eat in a formal setting.  Right after her talk, the food was served and the speaker was looking and guiding the participants if they have learned from what she has discussed to them earlier.

After that, the certificate and a token of appreciation were awarded  Then, Ms. Carol P. Raca, SVP for Finance, delivered her closing remarks.  Before leaving, the participants have their picture taken with the speakers.

32 participants enjoyed the seminar.  Ms. Sarah Jane Banal, JVP for Non-academics hosted the event.
